The Graduate Council held an awards ceremony on April 23, 2009, to honor members who had completed their appointed terms of service.   

Engraved letter openers were presented to each member by Dean Mark J.T. Smith.  Those accepting awards this year were (as shown in photo): R. Chandrasekaran, Patricia K. Curd, Purna C. Das, Sabre Kais, Hasan U. Akay, Salvador F. Acuña, and Mark J.T. Smith, Graduate School Dean (not pictured, Kenneth A. Foster).   Four members who have completed their terms received awards in a ceremony held prior to the November council meeting.  Receiving awards at that time were Richard A. Hengst, Anne M. Knupfer, Morris Levy, and Chee-Mun Ong.
